Nantwich moorings closed for six weeks
THE MOORINGS AND TOWPATH at Nantwich on the Shropshire Union Canal are to be closed.
This is due to cracks in the towpath that have worsened since Canal & River Trust investigated earlier this year.
Work will start on the section from the aqueduct (pictured) to Bridge 92 at Nantwich Marina, and take from Monday 28th April to Friday 16th May.
Allow the work to settle
Though the towpath will be open after the 15th, the moorings will be closed for six weeks in total to allow the work to settle,
The trust had previously monitored this section of the embankment after cracks were observed along the towpath, with monitoring pins installed, and though early assessments revealed little to be concerned about, the situation has worsened.
Hence the work being started to secure the bank.
