On and on it goes
READING the many reasons given by contractors for not getting on with work, clearly shows why the trust is so short of cash.
Still another example is on the Huddersfield Narrow Canal, as Keith Gudgin reports.
It was way back on New Years Day that a landslip occurred at Lock 11W on the waterways it then being closed.
Initial site inspections
Just after this Canal & River Trust told that its engineering team had completed the initial site inspections at Lock 11W on the Huddersfield Narrow Canal and are now preparing 'design options' to address the landslips.
However it presents access challenges for the required work, but was working with its 'framework contractor' and adjacent landowners to investigate suitable access arrangements.
Then all we are told is that there will be updates at the start of each month, the next being the 1st of March—meaning not until the navigation has been closed for two months.
Why a boat with a grabber cannot be used to clear any landslip is not stated, only that the navigation is closed.
