Caen Hill Flight stoppage extended

THE STOPPAGE on Caen Hill Flight on the Kennet & Avon has been extended.

This was to replace the bottom gates of locks 33 and 40 that will be done in succession, Keith Gudgin reports.

Canal & River Trust advise that having reviewed the risk assessment for the works involved, it 'needs to widen the closure area'.

Closed until 14th March

This means the closure will now run from its original starting date of 2nd January until Friday (of course) 14th March.

It now taking 10 weeks to replace two sets of lock gates!

It is stated that the flight is closed but also could the trust please ask for minimal use of locks 50 through to 44 to prevent water coming down the flight onto the construction site.
