IN ADDITION to the low water level reported last week at Mexborough on the Sheffield & South Yorkshire Navigation another section of the waterway has low levels.
This is at Long Sandall Lock, Keith Gudgin reports.
It is now closed through low water levels from Yesterday, but will not be inspected until next week and then boaters will be given an update,
This particular waterway, fed by the Don, is not known to have low water levels, so this is somewhat unusual.
Erewash Canal
Though there has been a daily announcement last week that the Erewash Canal has been closed through lack of water—due, it is told, by leaving gates open, there have been no updates published.
So it can only be assumed the waterway is still closed.
