IT WAS a diver that prevented a long wait for the repairs to a paddle on a Avon Lock at Bath.
Repairs were needed to Weston river lock that had become jammed, and it was proved that a diver was the best method as the river cannot be stopped as easily as a canal.
Remove the paddle
A dive was made to remove the paddle from its structure, then the repairs were undertaken and the paddle returned to its working position.
At the same time the diver removed debris that had become lodged that was slowing the flow of water.
All in all, it was a quick repair, with the lock soon back in action.
