Narrowboat sunk in flood water on the Soar

A NARROWBOAT has been caught in the flood water at Kegworth Flood Lock on the Soar.

The river is in flood, as is the Trent that it joins further down river, Keith Gudgin reports.

KegworthFloosLockIt is told the narrowboat which has succumbed to flood water and is sinking, remains located below Kegworth Flood Lock on the Soar.

Nearly fully submerged

Canal & River Trust tell it is on the approach mooring and is nearly fully submerged, but they are unable to attend the site to identify the boat or take action, as the river has turned again to flood conditions.

The trust then tell the boat is currently moored safely above the lock and no longer poses a hazard. But the trust told the boat sank below the lock, so this is not understood.

The navigation remains closed at this time, but when reopened out of flood, boaters should pass the sunken boat with care..
