Now its stoppages two at a time!
FOR the first time ever stoppages are coming two at a time!
The trust listing both stoppages at the same time—Bracebridge Lock and Manton Lock on the Chesterfield Canal that were closed yesterday, Wednesday, Keith Gudgin reports.
These two Worksop locks both shared the same problem—both have paddle failures on their top gates.
The trust tell that its team is making an assessment of what needs to be done.
A bad day for the trust
Yesterday, Wednesday was indeed a bad day for the trust with a total of four stoppages on the one day.
The Low Lane Swing Bridge 2 on the New Junction Canal (pictured) has suffered a 'structure failure' with an 'electrical fault' with contactors being instructed to attend.
The Calder & Hebble Navigation is closed at the Figure of Three Top Lock, as 'an issue' with the failed ground sluices which are making it impossible to empty the lock.
Divers are required to investigate but will not be available until next Monday 22nd July. So four closures yesterday. Not looking good for boaters.
SATURDAY—Both Bracebridge Lock and Manton Lock on the Chesterfield Canal are now open.
