Mystery of the stuck boat

A NARROWBOAT stuck in the Top Lock of Gregory Mills on the Worcester & Birmingham Canal proved a bit of a mystery.

BoatStuckIt was stuck in the lock leaning to one side that caused it to get fast, so required people with planks to ease it out with the water let out during the process, a great deal of water being lost in the process.

Flooded into the boat

It is believed that the boat first became stuck on Saturday at the Gregory Mills Top Lock, before succumbing to the water on Sunday afternoon and leaning so much it flooded into the boat

No reason was given why it was leaning to one side, but it was eventually removed from the lock, but Canal & River Trust staff would not allow it to proceed until it was righted, which it eventually was.

Then the stuck boats on either side of the lock were able to proceed.
