Hoping for new bins at Stone or vicinity

THE Canal & River Trust is now working with local partners to secure a rubbish site in Stone or its vicinity.

It hopes to be able to have information within the next few weeks to be able to have a new site local to the town on the Trent & Mersey Canal in time for the new season, Keith Gudgin reports.

The bins at Stone were removed, as the owners of the land didn't feel able to continue with the bins in the current location.

As this facility is fairly well used it being a handy shopping place, the trust tells it is now actively pursuing other options in the Stone area, but is likely to take a little while, as land ownership is limited in the vicinity, and any new site will need to meet strict access and maintenance criteria to secure approval.
