Yesterday sees three navigations closed

Published: Thursday, 25 January 2024

HOLME Lock (8) on the Trent was closed yesterday, Wednesday.

This was caused by an 'unexpected fault' with the down stream off-side sluice, Keith Gudgin reports.

Electrical engineers should be attending to the problem this morning to carry out the required repairs, but the lock cannot be operated until it is fixed.

This makes Holme Lock having five stoppages recorded in narrowboatworld since 2022.

New Junction Canal

A fault has developed with the mechanism that operates the gates on the guillotine lock, that is fixed in the closed position, so no access.

A new part is required, so the lock will be closed until obtained and fitted.

Droitwich Barge Canal

The navigation is closed between Vines Park Barge Lock and Lock 6, Droitwich Junction and the Intersection of Barge Lock to Bridge 20, Barge Lock Swing Bridge on Droitwich Barge Canal.

Also closed from Body Brook Lock (6) to River Lock (7) on Droitwich Junction Canal.

All closed due to an excessive build-up of silt. Passage should not be attempted until further notice.

The dredging team  will 'prioritise works accordingly'.
