Crabtree remains closed

CRABTREE Swing Bridge (32) on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal is still closed.

This swing bridge at Burscough that failed last Wednesday, the 6th, is still awaiting a component, Keith Gudgin reports.

Liaising

To help get the part that is needed to fix the problem, Canal & River Trust is liaising directly with the manufacturer of the component that is required to resolve the power issue.

This however will take an anticipated delivery time of seven days. When received the contractors will return to install and test the working of the bridge.

The good news

The good news on the Leeds & Liverpool is that the fallen coping stones and railings have been removed from the waterway at Godley Bridge (138), and navigation resumed.

This was undertaken by the local authority after a vehicle strike on the 26th of November, it being responsible for the bridge.
