OWING to a damaged wall there will only be one limited passage a week allowed on the Chesterfield Canal through Worksop.

It was way back on the 17th August that a wall collapsed into the navigation near Town Lock in Worksop due to flooding, closing the canal, Keith Gudgin reports.

WorksopFlood22Booked in advance

Weekly access has been allowed and now this is set at Wednesday between 9.30am to 3,39pm, but must be booked in advance by 9.30am Monday.

Other times will be considered to provide assisted passage upon request but it cannot be guaranteed resources will always be available.

It was on the 17th August that a flood took away the wall closing the navigation, and though we were informed on the 23rd that contractors attended the site to asses the works required to repair the collapsed boundary wall and Matalan engineers and contractors were now preparing a detailed plan of works, it is still not repaired.

Within next two weeks

Though at the time we were told that 'Matalan have advised that it aims to complete these initial works 'within the next two weeks'.  But no intimation when it would be completed.

We told in August that it would be a long stoppage.
