Weeks before Huddersfield Narrow is reopened

THE leaking culvert on the Huddersfield Narrow Canal has now been investigated.

Work starts on Friday

But work on the repair to the leak between locks 20E and 21E will not commence until this coming Friday 17th, Keith Gudgin reports.

After it is repaired—we are not informed of a possible timescale—we are informed 'it may take up to one week to refill this stretch of canal in order to make it navigable'.

So as yet there is no information of the reopening of the waterway.

Rochdale too closed

The Rochdale too was closed today, Monday, at Boarshaw Lock (60) at Chadderton, due to an issue with a paddle which is making the lock inoperable.

This closure on the 13th makes 13 closures this month, keeping up one a day...
