Ripon open at last—again!

OXCLOSE Lock has been finally repaired and access to Ripon Marina freely available at last!

It was in December of last year that Oxclose Lock was discovered to have a sink hole, then later a further sink hole that kept the contractors busy for nearly six months, Keith Gudgin reports.

Another sink hole

It was only five months after another sink hole had been repaired in the lock, closing it for months and keeping around 200 boaters trapped in Ripon Marina.

The strange thing about all this is that it was stated that there were two sink holes in the first instance, but only one was repaired, then 'discovering' there was another after five months that had the contractors back again.

The boaters at Ripon must really wonder if before long another such sink hole will be discovered...

The added information from Canal & River Trust is that water is still leaking out of the lock!
