Saltersford Lock open Wednesdays only

SALTERSFORD Lock on the Weaver that is awaiting repair is open for navigation on Wednesdays only.
It is a repair to its control box that is the problem, it being delayed by the bad weather, Keith Gudgin reports.
Advance notice required
Until this can be fixed the lock will be worked by Canal & River Trust staff on Wednesdays, with 24 hours advance notice required by calling the North West office on 03030 404040 during office hours.
This lock has a history of failures, it being closed twice already this year and for five weeks in 2021 with a broken collar and before this in November of 2019 after a void was discovered.
