Keeping up the trend

SELBY Swing Bridge is keeping up its trend of yearly failures, being out of action again.

SelbySwingThe bridge, situated where Selby Canal joins the Ouse broke down on Sunday, Keith Gudgin reports.

Not navigable

It is therefore not navigable, with Canal & River Trust stating it will remain so 'until further notice'.

This keeps up its trend of failing every year, with it failing in June of last year and in 2020 our reporting that it had failed six times in six years.  So now it has failed eight times in eight years!

The Selby Canal leaves the Ouse at Selby meandering through the countryside  six miles to the village of West Haddlesey.
