'Bank Failure' closes the Kennet & Avon

PERHAPS again it's a breach by any other name.
For the bank of the Kennet & Avon Canal has suffered a 'Bank Failure' between locks 102 and 103 in Reading, Keith Gudgin reports.
Emptied pound
This has resulted in the canal water running into the Kennet, emptying the one and a half mile pound between the two locks closing the waterway.
The two locks have been secured to prevent the adjoining pounds being drained, particularly the upper one. The photograph is of Burghfield Lock 102.
Canal & River Trust engineers have been on site today to assess the situation.
