The only service block closed for four weeks

BOATERS on the Weaver will be stuck for water for the entire month of March.

Canal & River Trust have decided to close the Town Bridge Customer Services at Northwich, it stating 'it will be closed from Monday 1st March for four weeks whilst our teams facilitate a repair to the flood damaged service block'.

Who plans these things?

In reporting this our Keith Gudgin exclaimed:

"Who the hell plans these things?  Does any thought actually go into it?  Or are they designed to be as obstructive and/or inconvenient to boaters as possible? The only service block closed for four weeks.

"As the lift is only available for one morning a week (approximately 10 to 12—two hours) and Saltersford Lock closed, this could mean boats being up to seven days without water or able to empty Elsan's if the lift is fully booked for the only morning that week!"

Prevents access

Another CaRT notice states that although the electrical problem has been fixed, Saltersford Lock is still on winter works closure!  This prevents access to the water points downstream of the lock. With the town services now closed there are now no available water points upstream of Saltersford Lock.
