Rampaging towpath attacker caught

THE man who had been attacking people walking the Leeds & Liverpool Canal towpath has been caught and arrested.

The man had caused the towpath of the canal going through Church to be a no-go area after four people came forward after being attacked, and it not known how many others, with the police asking people to come forward.

Suffered facial injuries

A 73 years old man suffered facial injuries, whilst three others—a woman and two men—received minor injuries when he grabbed them.

The attacker was eventually caught in Rishton and arrested on suspicion of assault, and kept in police custody.

Could be others

The police believe that there could be others who could have been assaulted and are asking anyone who had been attacked or has any information, to contact them, as it is thought there are other victims.
