Opening times cut at Cromwell Lock

THE opening times have been reduced for passage through Cromwell tidal lock on the Trent.

Though they were set at 8am to 8pm in August the shorter hours of daylight means the lock will only be open for navigation from 8am to 4pm starting this Friday, Keith Gudgin reports.

Depend on the tide

In addition 24 hours notice must be made of intended passage through the lock, and of course this will also depend on the state of the tide.

There can be no guarantee of passage if a booking is not made.  The picture shows a boat leaving the lock on the tide.
