Living up to its reputation

CRABTREE Swing Bridge on the Leeds & Liverpool is something of a joke amongst regulars users.

It is often breaking down and has the rather suspect achievement of breaking down twice in one day!  And is broken and out of action yet again, Keith Gudgin reports.

Could be repaired quickly

This time however it could be repaired very quickly as it is in such a position that neither boats on the waterway nor vehicles on the road can use it.

With the unreliable swing bridges and now a spell of hot weather with no rain, boaters are doubtful of the 4th July 'fully open' declaration from Canal & River Trust.
