Rochdale dredging completed

THE dredging of the Rochdale Canal at Locks 6 and 7 has been completed and the navigation re-opened.

This was started in February but was then of course held up by the coronavirus pandemic, but it is now completed, Keith Gudgin reports.

Required dredging

This was the location of the collapsed White Lee Clough Culvert at Hebden Bridge that caused the build-up of silt in the waterway, that had been repaired but then required dredging.

The notice from Canal & River Trust tells us to ...only move your boat if it’s essential (not for leisure purposes) and minimise your use of the towpath. Alas is does not give a similar warning to visitors.
