Obstruction removed from Rochdale Nine

THE obstruction preventing a lock from being operated on the Rochdale Nine has been removed.

The obstruction was in Lock 87 of the flight through Manchester and was stopping navigation, Keith Gudgin reports.

So many bodies

As this was the area where so many bodies had been discovered in the waterway is was feared that this would have been another, but obviously not.

Canal & River Trust have not stated what the obstruction was, but as there was no outcry it is assumed it was not another body to add to the list.
