Transporting workers by the Thames

AS PLANS to open up the Thames to hire boats get underway there is a scheme to use them to ferry workers.

Transport for London is considering using hire boats to allow contractors to use boats to ferry their workers to sites in the capital, Roger Fox reports.

Large construction sites

There are several large transport construction sites being reopened, but with reduced teams and using boats on the river will enable social distancing to be achieved for the workers.

These include major work on both the tube and rail, such as the Northern Line Extension to Battersea, the Bank Station Capacity Upgrade and the extension of London Overground to Barking Riverside.

There are also other construction sites by the river that could benefit from using boats to ferry workers whilst coronavirus is prevalent.
