Swing bridges can't swing

TWO swing bridges on the Ouse are unable to swing—they are under water!
Neither Cawood Bridge (pictured) nor Selby Toll Bridge can be operated as they are both under water owing to the floods, Keith Gudgin reports.
Submerged
Both have their electrical, mechanical and hydraulic operating systems submerged due to the high levels of flood water and are out of action.
Nothing can be done until the flood waters subside and allow engineers to investigate any possible damage.
Canal & River Trust tell boaters to take advice from the bridge operator on the headroom available when approaching the bridge!
