Culvert collapse on Leeds & Liverpool Canal

A CULVERT collapse has closed the Leeds & Liverpool Canal between Adlington and Wigan Flight.

The culvert that is situated between bridges 64 and 65 near Sharrocks Farm was reported collapsed on Saturday, with engineers inspecting the site, Keith Gudgin reports.

Second stoppage

This is the second stoppage on the waterway last week, with Maghull Swing Bridge also out of action due to a vehicle strike.

Both stoppages are on the western end of the navigation.
