Booking needed for Bingley Five Rise

FOR the winter period there will be no regular volunteer lock keepers on Bingley Five Rise lock flight.

From 1st November the Leeds & Liverpool Canal flight will need prior booking for operation, as these locks are not allowed to be boater operated, Keith Gudgin reports.

Limited passage

A minimum of 72 hours notice is needed, with the first passage at 9am and the last at 2pm daily.  Following the last passage the locks will be chained up until the following morning.

For the Christmas and New Year holiday period the locks will be closed on the 25th & 26th December 2019 and the 1st of January 2020.

Office closed

The Yorkshire & North East office that handles the bookings however will be closed from the 25th December until the 2nd of January, so booking for over the Christmas period is made and confirmed no later than midday on the 24th December.
