Waterside campus for Nene

THE Nene at Northampton will take on an entirely different outlook over the next few years with Northampton University building a new water-side campus.

The campus will regenerate the brownfield site that is opposite Midsummer Meadow. with two bridges connecting it with the town, Alan Tilbury tells us.

Lifted by cranes

One of the bridges will carry traffic, whilst the other will be for pedestrians, with both bridges being lifted into place with cranes.

The work will include the demolition of the old power station façade, which has been derelict since 1975.

It is expected that the new campus will be open in time for the academic year 2018.
