Sudden and unexpected loss of water

Published: Thursday, 23 July 2015

TWO of the major waterways locks have had restrictions placed on them with overnight closures, with the reason now given as 'sudden and unexpected loss of water'.

The Hanwell Flight on the Grand Union Canal will now be closed from 9pm to 7am every day until further notice owing to a 'sudden and unexpected loss of water' on Tuesday (21st). This includes the entire flight from Lock 90 to Lock 97, Keith Gudgin tells us.

The Regent's Canal will also now be closed at Hampstead Road Locks, again from 9pm to 7am, from yesterday, (22nd) and restrictions will remain in force until further notice, again due to a 'sudden and unexpected loss of water'.

What caused the sudden and unexpected loss of water we are not told.
