Collapsed culvert.

Published: Wednesday, 01 April 2015

THE closure of the Rufford Branch of the Leeds & Liverpool Canal was caused by the collapse of a culvert beneath the waterway.

This resulted in a 'hole' appearing in the canal, where the water is draining into the culvert, Keith Gudgin tells us.

Open Friday

However the hole will be sealed over the next few days and the waterway should be open again this coming Friday 3rd April.

The stoppage is between locks five and six at Lathom.
