Tracker must have conditions

Published: Wednesday, 21 January 2015

I WOULD join you in having a tracker fitted but there would have to be conditions. It must not be the only thing that defines mooring times, distances travelled etc writes Keith Gudgin.

There must be defined safeguards installed that allow discretion due to forced delays e.g. ice, high winds, high river levels, other bad weather etc.

Penalty by default

We must be careful that it is not just up to some automated computer programme to say that an overstay etc. has occurred and then imposes some penalty by default.

If this is to become a reality then it will need to be thought out very carefully indeed with boat owners backing it all the way.
