Car in Kegworth Flood Lock

Published: Sunday, 28 December 2014

ON CHRISTMAS Eve a car went a little too far when parking in the spaces at Kegworth Flood Lock on the Soar, and went straight into the river.

Being unable to get people to remove the vehicle over the Christmas period, the car has remained there, Keith Gudgin tells us.

The latest is that it could be removed tomorrow, Monday, when lifting equipment will be available.

A stoppage notice from Canal & River Trust tells 'We are currently working to find a way of restoring navigation as quickly as possible', but once again it shows its ignorance of the waterways, as the navigation is not closed,  as the river bends around the flood lock, that we, and no doubt many others have used, when navigation through the lock is obstructed by badly moored boats.

There is a small boat yard there with moored boats that access either up or downstream.
