Live grenade in Regent's Canal

THE clean-up of the Regent's Canal has unearth some peculiar objects that have been dumped in the water, but a live grenade beats them all.

The live grenade was found during the afternoon yesterday (Thursday) near Salmon Line Lock just above Limehouse Basin, Roger Fox tells us.

Second World War

It was a surprise to the workers who are more used to shopping trolley, bicycles and the like, to find a grenade from the Second World War.

The emergency services were alerted, and the bomb disposal people arrived to make it safe for it to be taken away and disposed of.
