Email: Use hard hats

Your correspondent Keith Gudgin gives some very good advice even if it may have been in jest.

I am quite tall and when we went through Harecastle on Swallow a couple of years ago, I had to spend most of the time on my knees to avoid banging my napper on the roof projections that could not be seen.

A 'bump cap' is now part of the equipment in my boat box of essentials, and I urge anyone who uses tunnels regularly to get one—ones that look like baseball caps are around a tenner on eBay. Might save someone being temporarily stunned and knocked off the back of their boat.
