Marina in receivership

A Marina company that leases from Canal & River Trust has gone into receivership, writes Allan Richards.

A petition presented to Liverpool High Court on 21st November 2012, by Eon Energy Solutions, has resulted in a winding up order now being granted, with the official receiver appointed as the liquidator of New Mills Marina Limited.

Already knew

Based on the Upper Peak Forest Canal, New Mills Marina has approximately 30 berths with some of them being residential.

Although the winding up order has only recently been filed at Companies House, moorers at the marina have been aware of the situation for about two weeks having been informed by the receiver.

Wrack and ruin

Described by one moorer as a potentially beautiful marina allowed to go to wrack and ruin, the owners have come in for almost universal criticism for lack of customer care.

It is not known how two moorers who have 25 year deals on their berths will be affected in the longer term.
