Another drowning in the Leeds & Liverpool

REGARDING your story of the teenager drowning in the Leeds & Liverpool Canal, there alas were two others recently, writes Sean Grainger,

It was at the end of November when the terrible accident occurred at Abram in Wigan when Aaron Ritchie fell into the canal and his friend went into the canal to attempt a rescue.

Both pronounced dead

But alas it failed and not only Abram but his friend was also pronounced dead in hospital.

After this there was the demand for better lighting on towpaths and safe crossing plainly signposted, though what the latter will prevent I cannot understand. We are still awaiting the lighting of which there has been other demands.
