Section of South Stratford Canal unsafe

SUCH is the condition of the South Stratford Canal, that a section has been immediately closed.

An inspection following complaints discovered that 'this section of towpath and navigation to be unsafe', Canal & River Trust report.

Both unsafe

This is between Bishopton Lane Bridge (63) and Timothy Road Bridge (64), with the trust deciding both are unsafe, Keith Gudgin reports.

It appears that the embankment is not safe and so the pound will be closed to navigation until further investigations are carried out.

This will be carried out tomorrow, Friday, we are told, with the result expected to be told.
