Mystery of body found in canal

POLICE have launched a probe into the discovery of the body of a man in  the Basingstoke Canal.

This setting in motion urgent enquiries as to his identity, Keith Gudgin reports.

The body was seen floating in the water and reported to the authorities on this Tuesday morning, the 7th.

Recovered the body

The police recovered the body of a man, believed to be in his 70s, soon after, with navigation stopped for the morning, but later re-opened.

Enquiries are taking place to attempt to establish the circumstances of the death, but the police tell they do not believe there to be any suspicious circumstances.
