North Stratford closed again

THE failure of the paddle mechanism of Lock 19 on the North Stratford has closed the canal.

This Lapworth lock is now inoperable and needs the 'correct equipment' sourcing so that the repairs can be undertaken, Keith Gudgin reports.

Stoppages

The waterway has suffered no few stoppages over the past months, with another paddle problem on the 11th September. this time out of its frame.

Then it was the Shirley drawbridge that was causing problems, with it closed on the 3rd of October as damaged, the 6th of September due to maintenance and the 7th of August, simply being stated as inoperable.

LATEST—The lock has been repaired and the navigation reopened on Monday 6th November.
