Boat jammed in Hurleston Lock

A NARROWBOAT is at present jammed in Lock 4 of Hurleston Locks at the junction of the Llangollen Canal with the Shropshire Union Canal, preventing navigation.

In the past for many years Lock 4 was troublesome, with a notice stating that fenders must be removed before entering, but the other three locks gave no problems with wider boats. An attempt to shave the walls of the toublesome lock, that obviously failed.

Blaming 'boat damage'

Canal & River Trust are however not taking responsibility, blaming 'boat damage' as the cause, though it has promised a team will remove the boat.
