Email: Tunnel safety

Victor is wrong by suggesting that CaRT have done nothing after the Coroner's report into the Harecastle death. Every tunnel we have passed through since October (we spent the summer on the Fens) has a new sign advising boaters to wear a life jacket when going through.

However, I am surprised that Victor, nor the Coroner for that matter, does not mention the use of a second tunnel lamp placed at the rear of the boat.

I use a LED work-lamp that I place on the hatch immediately in front of me, angled to illuminate both the boat and tunnel roof. With the conventional tunnel light mounted some 50 or 60 feet in front of you, any changes in roof height disappear into a black void before you actually get to them. Add a second lamp and everything is revealed.
