CASTLE Marinas make an effort to keep the interest of boaters, so have just completed its Dogs Afloat photo competition amongst it marina moorers.

Owing many marinas there was plenty of competition but the winner was Rocky, who is owned by Chris Wray who keeps his narrowboat Musaschi at Wigrams Turn Marina, with Rocky pictured below.

Hard choice

We are told it was a hard choice with many entries from all its five inland marinas, it was decided to award a runner-up prize too, which went to Peter Loewenstein and Stella Nickolay, for Elsa a Border Collie, whose boat Norfolk is a boat share narrowboat kept at Ventnor Marina.

Operations Director for Castle Marinas Ltd, Mike Braidley, explained:

"Many of our customers have dogs that they take with them on their narrowboats or river cruisers. There are some fantastic walks along the towpaths and around our marinas so it easy to see why many do. For many the dogs are a part of the boating life."

The dogs themselves benefited, as both received a doggie delights hamper.
