Email: Those 100 years

Published: Sunday, 30 August 2015

I have just read this morning's Victor, and would like to comment on the BBC now increasing the time that canal have been in existence by 100 years.

It tells that they are 300 years old, when we all know that many have just reached 200 years, celebrating their bicentenary.

But you know, it might not be the BBC that is at fault, for I should imagine everybody connected with the canals knows that CaRT likes to exaggerate its statistics (I am still waiting for the 'daily' number of towpath visitors to pass my boat on its mooring on the Staffs & Worcs, though I've been counting for over two months now, but still nowhere what CaRT tells us should visit in one day!)

Which leaves me to believe that possibly CaRT has told the BBC 300 years...
