Please can we have our boat licence?

Published: Thursday, 27 August 2015

SINCE the Canal & River Trust boat licensing department moved we have been told of various problems boaters have experienced in getting their licences, but now we are experiencing problems from the 'Licensing Team' ourselves!

It was way back in July that we applied for our boat licence on the required internet form, with our BSS two years to run and insurance not due until next year, and of course including the cash, but all we received was a silly letter about ownership being moved—though our present boat has had the same ownership for 14 years.

Expires in four days

We duly explained that nothing had altered and duly waited for the licence to appear—but nothing!  It is now just four days until the present boat licence expires, and we do not fancy going out next Tuesday with an outdated licence showing!

A bank statement shows the money went into CaRT's coffers way back in early July. So they have the completed form, details of the BSS, details of insurance and the cash—so please can we have our licence?

UPDATE:

As can be seen this article was published at 9.34am—at 10.54 we were told a licence was on its way...
