Police remove canalside seating

THE police have taking the extraordinary step of removing all the canalside seating by the Rochdale Canal at Miles Platting, stating it will stop drug dealing.

The police state that the benches near the Navigation pub were used by drug dealers, so have pulled them all up after reports from residents who were afraid to use the seats, Alan Tilbury tells us.

Strange

However this seems strange, as taking away the seating can hardly have any effect on the drug dealing, as dealers have been known to deal standing-up! and removing the seats means that the residents can't now use them anyway.

Greater Manchester Police removed all the benches on Friday as part of a major drugs crackdown, and claim that by removing the seats plans can now be made  to reclaim the space back for the community.

The benches were outside the Navigation and were used by its patrons for drinking, and it is not known what those drinkers think about the seating being removed.
