Deserted on the Soar

THE fleet of Shakespeare Classic Line Boats, formerly operated out of Mercia Marina by the Avante Leisure Group is now strung-out along the Soar.

There are 18 altogether moored at Redhill, with the above picture showing five of them with a further six moored near Ratcliffe Lock, shown in the picture below, all of course unused as the company has gone bust.

Lost money

It is not known how many people who bought timeshares from the company are involved, but there will undoubtedly be many who have lost money and of course their holidays.

This is the second time the company offering timeshares has gone bust (Shakespeare timeshare goes bust—again) with its Director Andrew Harris found guilty of ten Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations offences, in 2013, leaving around 100 people conned out of their money by the fraudulent timeshare scam.

He received a prison sentence of 4½ years, for operating what the judge called a 'fraud factory' whilst other directors had lesser sentences.
