Email: Ban all over 65!

I have to agree with Paul Dowler and several others who have called for a ban on old people like Tim and Pru using the canal system.

Why should these geriatrics be allowed to bounce their boats about like out of control pinballs causing untold damage to the already crumbling fabric of the waterways. I suggest a useful cut off should be at 65 when, unless accompanied by a younger responsible person, the hiring or owning of a canal boat should be banned. It should also be made possible to compulsorily purchase any boats owned by anyone who reaches this age.

It is also obvious that any one, like Pru, who has a disability finds it very difficult to operate the deteriorating locks and bridges so they should also have to pass a fitness test to prove they are capable of using the system without damaging it.

This would also have the added advantage that it would remove many of the problems caused by boat owners who claim they are too ill to move and are mooring for too long in one place.
