A NENE boater has been taken to court by the Environment Agency and fined for having an unlicenced boat on the river.

David Rennie pleaded not guilty at Peterborough Magistrates' Court to keeping or using a vessel on the Nene at Stibbington Boat Yard, when it was not licenced with the Environment Agency, Alan Tilbury tells us.

Found guilty

He was however found guilty and ordered to pay the licence fee of £770.95 and costs.

The Agency is now regularly checking boats on the Nene.
