Paddle problems close the 'Narrow'

ONCE again the Huddersfield Narrow Canal is closed due to a paddle problem.

The second time since the season opened, Keith Gudgin reports.

This time there is a problem with one of the paddles on Lock 1W, (pictured) stopping the lock being operated.

Repaired today

This failure occurred  yesterday, Sunday, but 'the team' has attended and there is a chance it will be repaired today.

Earlier this month it was a ground paddle on Lock 29E that failed, and this was quickly repaired.

It would seem that there is a new system being operated as there is no having to wait until contractors discover a way of repair...
