Failed lock gate closes Bank Dole Cut

BANK Dole Cut that connects the Aire & Calder Navigation to the Aire is closed.

The reason being that the bottom riverside lock gate (5) has suffered a structural failure, Keith Gudgin reports.

Canal & River Trust tell that engineers have inspected the gate and advised the lock must be closed until suitable repairs to the gate can be undertaken.

Repair

Equipment and materials are being brought in to undertake the repair to the failed gate.

Repairs are planned to commence on Monday 30th October but unfortunately the lock will remain closed until the repairs are undertaken and completed.

There is no intimation on how long this would take.
